Summer Database of FUN
The economy may be recovering, but local goverment budgets are tight, and outdoor concerts are amongst the first thing to get the axe. Arlington's Luber Run Amphitheater is reportedly under demolition, and the county's previoiusly impressive concert series has been cut to the bone. Fortunately a new trend of neighborhood outdoor films has formed to entertain you this summer, along with the ample free concerts that remain.

Geek Films - Sci Fi fans will love the NoMa film festival (4th & L, NE, Wednesdays) featuring classic Sci Fi like Logan's Run, as well as Crystal City's film festival (Mondays), showing the full run of Star Trek movies.
Screen on the Green - Outdoor films on the Mall with thousands of young adults, July 12-August 2.
NSO on the Capitol Lawn - Hear the world-class National Symphony
Orchestra play in front of the world-class view of the Capitol Dome. Sunday before Memorial Day, Labor Day, and on July 4.
Zoo Concerts - Picnic on the hill by the lions and the bat cave
while enjoying live music. Thursdays after work. July 22, 29, and August 5.
Fireworks - Alexandria's Birthday - July 10
and Independence Day on the Mall.
1812 Overture - Real Cannons fire to Tchaikovsky's masterpiece
while surrounded by the national monuments near the Sylvan Theater - August 12.
Fort Reno - Hear up-and-coming local rock bands play before a field
of young adults.
